Role: own infrastructure or land; obtained permits and funding; hold construction and construction management contracts

  • Massachusetts Department of Fish and Game, Division of Ecological Restoration (DER)
  • United States Department of Agriculture National Resources Conservation Services (NRCS)
  • U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service (USFWS)

Role: financial grants; technical and implementation personnel expertise

 

Herring River Technical Team (HRTT)

  • Representatives from the Town of Wellfleet and NPS Cape Cod National Seashore and funding and technical partners attend.
  • Select scientific advisors, project coordinators, and project partners also attend.

Role: technical expertise in data, implementation, project management

 

Friends of Herring River

  • Nonprofit Organization (incorporated 2009) as project coordination and non-construction contract management.

Role: Skilled staff provide ongoing project support, acquire/manage grants and all non-construction contracts, conduct community outreach, and engage paid consultants (HRRP Project Coordinator – Ridley & Associates)

 

Herring River Executive Council (HREC)

  • Two representatives from NPS Cape Cod National Seashore and three residents or staff from Town of Wellfleet. Created by Memorandum of Understanding III.

Role: Intergovernmental team, implementation decision-making

 

Herring River Stakeholders Group (HRSG)

  • 19 representatives of Outer Cape residential and business groups, and organizations
  • Reports to Herring River Executive Council

Role: stakeholder/community liaison to Project; representing 19 different regional and local constituencies

 

Contractors

  • Variety of groups/individuals paid, via state and federal funds, for non-construction and construction expertise.
