CHEQUESSETT NECK BRIDGE CONSTRUCTION UPDATE
- Following a brief pause, as the contractor awaited installation of two new Verizon utility poles, MIG construction will resume work the week of February 19th installing utility conduits and manholes in the existing layout of Chequessett Neck Road.
- The bridge work is scheduled to take place on Tuesday February 20th, Wednesday
February 21st, and Thursday February 22nd . Please be advised that traffic delays may ensue as this work takes place. A police detail will be onsite to manage traffic. - Following installation of conduits and manholes, the utility providers – Eversource and Verizon – will be engaged to transfer power and telecom utilities across the newly installed temporary bridge.
- Note that residents of Griffins Island will be notified of the specific date of this utility transfer, as it will result in a brief disruption of service as the transition is made.
- Following the transfer of utilities, the temporary bridge will be opened shortly thereafter to all vehicular and pedestrian traffic. A future update will outline in more detail the new traffic pattern as work begins on the next phase of construction.
